Emerging from Ambivalence

$2,630.00

A series of five pieces.

Isn’t it funny how just one situation can be translated or treated differently because from a moment of time. When we should have gone left and said yes instead of the situation we created ourselves. Learning that we’ve made mistakes can be hard but what is even harder is relying on coping mechanisms that simply don’t work anymore.

This piece is a reflection on many of my experiences through life and learning to develop better life strategies. Again, I do find some of my most rewarding pieces have steamed from drawing in on my own journey with mental illness as a positive. Despite having some bad days from my good, the act of cutting my work has been really grounding for me.

This piece has been one of my largest in context to layers. Its made up of sixteen layers and has sixteen-hundred shapes cut out, making up the design.

Each layer has been hand cut using a surgical blade and bounded together with acid-free glue. I created hidden layers in this piece to create an effect so that the visual layers appear to be floating.

This work is presented in a complementary frame.
